Sexual activity is a basic instinct in humans and forms one of the most important aspects of their life. However, there are many people who suffer from sexual dysfunctions. The most commonly found sexual dysfunction in men is impotency. It is a condition in which a person suffers from low sex drive and low erectile functions. One of the main causes of sexual impotence is depression. Devitalized condition of the body system is another reason of sexual impotence. There are three different forms of sexual impotence – primary sexual impotence, secondary sexual impotence and the one concerned with old age. While the third one cannot be treated much, the first two can be cured by resorting to some natural ways. In the following lines, we have provided certain home remedies for treating sexual impotency.

Home Remedy For Sexual Impotence

• Consuming garlic is one of the best ways to treat sexual impotence. Chew two to three cloves of raw garlic, on a daily basis. In fact, you should include garlic in your regular diet.

• Onion is another very good vegetable to treat sexual impotence. It increases libido and strengthens reproducing organs. White onions are best for this purpose.

• Finely chop about 150 grams of carrots. Consume this, along with a half-boiled egg, dipped in a tablespoon of honey, once everyday. This will help increase sexual stamina.

• Take about 5-10 gm root powder of Ladyfinger in a glass of milk. Add 2 tsp of mishri in this milk and drink it. This will prove helpful in improving sexual vigor.

• Put 15 gm dried roots of asparagus in a glass of milk. Have this milk two times in a day. It will be useful in treating both sexual impotency and premature ejaculation.

• In 250ml of boiled milk, add 15 grams drumstick flowers. Prepare a soup from this decoction. Another effective way to use drumsticks would be to boil 120 gm of the powder of the dry bark in half a liter of water, for about half an hour. Yet another effective way would be to have 30 grams of this powder with a tablespoon of honey. Have this paste 3 times in a day.

• Ginger juice is beneficial in treating sexual impotence. Mix ½ tsp ginger juice with half boiled egg and honey. Have this mixture once every night. It is beneficial in curing impotency, premature ejaculation & spermatorrhoea.

• Dry fruits are effective in curing sexual impotency. Pound and mix equal quantities of dates, almonds, pistachios and quince seeds. 100 grams of this mixture, consumed on a daily basis, is said to increase sexual power.

• Wash 30 grams of black raisins in lukewarm water. Eat them with a glass of warm milk, daily. Increase the quantity by 50 grams after some time.

• Mix jambul fruit (Indian herb) with milk and add a little honey to it. Consume this mixture to treat impotence.

• Some of the items that help normalize hormonal imbalance and boost sexual craving are chickweed, ginseng, plantain and safflower. Include them in your diet.

• For female sterility, dry the roots of banyan tree and powder them into fine particles. Take about 20 gm of this powder with milk, in a ratio of 1:5. Have this for 3 consecutive nights after the menstrual cycle.

• Powder winter cherry herb. Consume 6 grams of this powder, with a cup of milk, for 5 to 6 days after menstruation.

• Including lots of seeds, fruits, nuts, grains, fresh green vegetables and fresh fruits in the diet is helpful in treating sexual impotence.

Right from her period of adolescence, a woman undergoes a number of changes, both physically and mentally. One of the natural transitions experienced by every woman, who has attained the menstrual cycle, is menopause. Menopause is defined as the culmination of woman’s monthly menstrual periods and ovulation. The natural transition brings in a number of changes in the hormonal composition of the women, as well as triggers symptoms related to the physical change. Her body starts producing lesser amounts of the hormones – estrogen and progesterone (among others). Go through the following lines to know what menopause is, according to Ayurveda.

Menopause in Ayurveda
Ayurveda says that menopause is not a disease, but a natural transition in women that occurs at the age of 45-55 years. In Ayurveda, the transition is often associated with the process of aging in women. Since aging is a ‘Vata’ predominant stage of life, the symptoms of menopause experienced by some women are often similar to the symptoms, when the Vata dosha rises and upsets the normal balance of the body. Typically, there are three types of menopause – vata dominated menopause, pitta dominated menopause and kapha dominated menopause.

  Common Symptoms Of Menopause

Anemia

Burning and increased frequency of micturation

Excessive hair fall

Feeling of intense heat in the body on some occasions

Irregular menstrual periods with excessive or scanty bleeding

Irritable nature

Joint pain

Oedema

Profuse sweating at night

Sleeplessness

Vaginal dryness and itching

Weakness

Effects
Each type of menopause has different symptoms. For instance, the Vata-type menopausal symptoms include depression, anxiety and insomnia. On the other hand, women with Pitta-type symptoms are often angry and suffer hot flashes. Kapha type menopause symptoms include listlessness, weight gain and feelings of mental and physical heaviness. The type of treatment depends upon the dosha in which the woman’s menopausal symptoms are manifesting. This suggests that each type of menopause needs different treatments to be administered. However, there still exist some common symptoms of menopause, which are experienced by women.

  Ayurvedic Remedies
Most of the women are unaware of the right kind of treatment, diet, nutritional supplements and exercise, which should be done during menopause. With proper guidance and simple lifestyle changes, they can easily avoid most of the unpleasant side effects of menopause, to a great extent. Various Ayurvedic herbs can be used during the period, which can help a great deal in strengthening and rejuvenating the female reproductive system. In addition to this, the herbs prescribed for the same can regulate the hormones and calm the emotions. Some of the examples are Aloe gel, Shatavari, Saffron, Kapikacchu, and Ashwagandha. These herbs, if taken in milk decoctions, can relieve the symptoms of menopause.

Pregnancy is not a merely physiological process. It is a great responsibility given by nature to us. Both, the father and the mother, should be aware of this responsibility and hence they should be prepared, physically and psychologically, to carry it. But, still, as the mother has to carry the baby in her womb, nourish it, and most importantly, give birth to the baby, more responsibility rests upon her shoulders.

Antenatal care means the care to be taken during pregnancy each month. In Ayurveda, it is called as Masanumasiki chikitsa. The word masanumasiki means month-to-month treatment. According to Ayurveda, there is different medicinal treatment for each month of pregnancy. Thus there are 9 different groups of medicines i.e. herbs for each month of pregnancy. If there are vitiated doshas, these should be purified with the help of panchakarmas. Then only, the couple is suitable for conception. This purification is called pindshuddhi. After conception, oral medication is started according to the month of pregnancy. As per Ayurvedic concepts, in each month a separate dahtu (body building substance) is formed in the body of baby. To help this dhatu to grow in normal way, medication is started. E.g. in the fifth month of pregnancy, the intellect of the baby begins to develop. In sixth month, it gets sharper. So, specific medicines which act on the intellect are given to the mother in fifth and sixth month. Medicinal treatment is not the only thing which is stressed upon in Ayurveda.

Apart from treating the course of normal pregnancy, different illnesses which may occur can also be treated with Ayurveda. Hypertension (high blood pressure) in pregnancy which is very common now a days, hyperacidity, excessive vomiting, diabetes in pregnancy, edema, premature birth, intrauterine growth retardation are some of the problems in pregnancy which can be treated with the help of Ayurveda.

Regarding diet, pregnant lady should eat satvik food (which is not very hot, spicy, sour, or which does not vitiate the doshas), like milk, ghee, rice, wheat, and fresh and homemade food. Furthermore, diet should be planned according to individual prakruti (constitution). To know your prakruti and get appropriate diet consult, email at drthite@ayurvedicrx.com

One may wonder if panchakarma could be done during pregnancy. The answer is yes, and, there are some panchakarmas like basti that are mandatory. Mild panchakarmas could be done to treat some illnesses during the pregnancy. As mentioned above, body of the mother should be cleansed even before conception.

When the baby is growing in the womb, it is exposed to emotional and physiological changes of mother and her surrounding. In Ayurveda, the importance of proper behavior of the couple before and after conception is emphasized. The couple should stop consumption of alcohol, tobacco, or other harmful substances. The couple should have affection and respect for each other. Garbhasanskar is done in order to make the atmosphere blissful. Part of this is done with listening to different ragas in classical indian music and some mantras for baby development.

There is another major problem many women of today’s world are forced to face. This is the problem of depression, which can occur during pregnancy and also after delivery. Depression, if neglected during pregnancy can lead to serious trouble during postpartum period. Parent counseling is very much necessary to avoid this. According to ayurveda, this is due to the imbalance of vata dosha. The vata dosha should be treated carefully during pregnancy. Yoga, meditation, listening to calming music, mantra chanting, and pacifying herbs, and panchakarma are the different means which help to control depression. The medicines, i.e., the herbs which are used to treat depression act on vitiated vata dosha. These herbs pacify the mind, give strength to mind, and help the brain to think rationally.

This is just an outline of antenatal care. This is a vast subject and every point can be elaborated to great lengths. I would like to tell every mother that this is a very noble responsibility given to us and we should be proud of being mother and should try to give all the love and care to the baby.

Neem, also known as nimba or margosa, is regarded by the ancients and modern science alike as a powerful healing herb with diverse applications. Described in the Ayurvedic texts as sarva roga nivarini – that which keeps all diseases at bay or arishtha – reliever of disease – Neem has been used in the Ayurvedic tradition for thousands of years to maintain health. The roots, bark, gum, leaves, fruit, seed kernels and seed oil are all used in therapeutic preparations for both internal and topical use.

Specific Benefits of Neem

Neem is regarded as a powerful supporter of the body’s natural defense mechanisms. Thus it helps support natural immunity, and helps protect the body from free radical damage. Free radicals have been implicated in a number of diseases as well as premature aging.

Because it offers the bitter and astringent tastes, Neem is especially helpful for balancing Pitta and Kapha doshas.

Neem leaves are regarded by Ayurvedic healers as an effective internal cleanser. Neem leaves have a powerful purifying effect on the blood and help cleanse the liver and skin of toxins. Neem leaf tea with a dash of honey can help soothe a dry irritated throat.

Neem bark is cooling and astringent, and is particularly helpful when taken internally for Pitta-related issues such as excess stomach acid and premature thinning and graying of the hair. It is also helpful in alleviating tiredness and helps maintain oral health, including healthy gums. Externally, Neem bark has been used for centuries by people in India to clean the teeth and gums. It helps maintain oral health and purifies the breath because of its anti-bacterial property.

Neem’s anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties have been well known for centuries and find extensive application today in soaps, shampoos and other skin formulations.

Neem is regarded as a twacha rasayana in the Ayurvedic literature – an herb that is excellent for the skin. Neem has a purifying and clarifying effect, drawing out excess oil and smoothing out blemishes, so it’s wonderful for persons with Kapha (earth or water predominant) skin. It is also soothing for dry, irritated skin when combined with Aloe Vera or rose water. Because its cooling nature, Neem is also helpful for Pitta-related skin inflammation.

Neem also helps maintain healthy nails. Neem oil can help restore damaged cuticles or brittle or yellowed nails with regular use. Taking Neem internally also helps keep skin, hair and nails healthy. In addition to maintaining the color and strength of hair, Neem can also help with a dry, flaky scalp and lice. Mix a few drops of pure Neem oil with a base oil such as coconut for Pitta and sesame for Kapha and apply comfortably warm oil to the scalp, covering the hair strands as well. Wrap your hair in a warm towel and leave on overnight or for as long as you can before you shampoo.

Neem is also regarded as chakshushya – an herb that is good for the eyes.

With so many therapeutic applications, little wonder that Neem has been called the village pharmacy in India and is gaining increasing attention from researchers all over the world.

Getting bigger breasts is a wish that many women have throughout the world. And unfortunately, the only popular way has been to get expensive and risky surgery.

This is a big problem, leaving many women lacking in self confidence, but it’s actually quite easy to solve.

There are millions of women throughout the world who would like to get bigger breasts, and to do it, you just need to be able to do one thing well – you need to be able to get a lot of estrogen into your body. Estrogen is the “female hormone”, which is responsible for making your body more curvy and your breasts bigger. It’s also the reason why so many women have breasts that they’d rather grow.

The problem with estrogen is simple. You see, during puberty, this hormone is pumped through your body to make it change from that of a girl into a woman. Estrogen kick-starts your menstrual cycle, makes you more curvy and starts to grow the breasts. It’s very important, and the reason why so many women don’t have the breasts they’d want, is because they come out of puberty too early, preventing their breasts from developing properly.

From the ages of 12-16, women’s bodies are full of estrogen. This is puberty and now is the time when most changes happen. However, when puberty stops, the levels of estrogen in your body are dramatically reduced, leaving your breasts to remain at that size throughout your adult life. This means that to make your breasts grow bigger naturally, you just need to be able to consume more estrogen, and luckily, it’s a naturally occurring substance which you can get from many different plants and herbs.

Estrogen is present in plants, where it is called “Phyto-Estrogen” (literally translated as “plant estrogen”). Because estrogen is available from nature, you can actually consume it from the food such as flax seeds, soy beans and even Tofu. There is a wide variety of estrogen-rich foods, which you can eat to make your breasts grow by up to one-two cup sizes. However, you need to be careful because there’s a certain level of estrogen that is effective… otherwise, it can leave unwanted side effects on your body.

So now having bigger breasts is not a fantasy. Chomp your way into these foods and watch heads turn!

Ayurvedic Treatment of Arthritis
(Painful Joints)
by Dr.Shashikant Patwardhan Arthritis is one of the most common ailment for which Ayurvedic help is being sought these days.

Disease Process in Arthritis
According to Ayurveda mostly pains are caused by the aggravation of vata (air) dosha. Arthritis is a condition which is caused by accumulation of ama and aggravation of vata. (Ama is a toxic by-product of improper digestion.) This ama circulates in the whole body and deposits or gets collected at the sites which are weaker. When it deposits in the joints and at the same time there is aggravation of vata, it results in a disease called amavata. This amavata is arthritis.

Remedies

As described above ama and vata are the main causes, so efforts should be made to digest ama and to reduce the vata. The digestion should be improved so that no further ama is produced. Efforts should be made to relieve the pain and inflammation. This is the line of treatment according to Ayurveda.

Fasting is very beneficial for digesting the ama. The fasting be complete or partial depending on the strength of the person, season and place. Two tea spoons of lemon juice mixed in 250 ml. of warm water and a tea spoon of honey is good to take twice a day -morning and evening.

Body massage with sesame or mustard oil helps to reduce the vata and thus reduce the pain. The joints affected by pain can be massaged for longer time.

Light exercise is useful but you must know your limits: as a general rule if any exercise, including walking, causes pain after one hour, you have crossed your limit.

Liberal intake of orange juice or sweet limejuice or Vitamin C enhances the efficacy of any anti rheumatic drug, since Vitamin C can reduce skeletal pain.

Guggul is a very helpful herb for curing arthritis. If available it can be taken in one to 3 gm dose twice a day after meals with warm water.

Contra-indications:
Not recommended for people with kidney disease or acute rashes.

Diet and Regimen

Foods which are easily digestible and do not make wind or gas are good. Vegetable juices and soups are good. Juices of carrot, beat root and cucumber mixed together is also beneficial. Green salad with a dressing of lemon juice and a little salt is also good. Fruits like apples, oranges, grapes and papaya can be taken. Cooked vegetables like squash, zucchini and pumpkin are good. Cooking with spices like cumin, coriander, ginger, asafetida, garlic, fennel and turmeric is also helps a lot.

Avoid eating hot, spicy and fried foods, sweets, wind forming foods like cabbage, cauliflower, spinach, broccoli, okra and potatoes should be prohibited. Avoid taking too much tea, coffee, alcohol, white sugar, yogurt, chocolate and cocoa, excessive smoking, sleeping during day time, staying up late in the night and mental tensions like worry, anxiety, fear, stress and grief etc., should be given up. Regular physical exercise and every day massage with oil, once or twice a week, should form an important part of life style.

Sex is something that both men and women have been so preoccupied about even during the ancient times. However, when it comes to aphrodisiacs and sexual stimulants, men usually have the upper lead. In Ancient China, men are willing to pay huge sums of money in order to acquire exotic aphrodisiacs, such as balls of tigers, bones of cobras and even dried and powdered seahorses.

Nowadays, the idea that food from animals and plants can make men more virile is still very popular. Surf the Net and you will see many online stores selling out-of-this-world contraptions and potions that promise to boost men’s libido. However, only a few items or articles are available for women who are interested in increasing their sexual pleasure and arousal. If you are one of those women who want to make use of natural ingredients to improve your sexual desire and arousal, read on and learn that some things you find in your kitchen or pantry can actually help whet your appetite for sex.

Gingko BilobaQuite a number of studies have shown that Gingko Biloba, also called the tree of life, improves blood circulation. In fact, many believe that the leaves of this tree can help your brain function better. Its ability to promote good circulation is also what makes this herb a good aphrodisiac. With the help of Gingko, there is a marked improvement in the flow of blood to the genital areas, making women easily aroused and satisfied.Safed MoosliThis tuber plant, whose scientific name is Chlorophytum Borivilianum, has been used for years to help treat various ailments. Nowadays, however, it is considered as a potent sex tonic, particularly in Asian countries.

According to Ayurveda tradition, this plant helps rejuvenate the reproductive system of both men and women.ChocolateMost probably, men do not know where the tradition of giving women chocolates as a sign of love originated. Probably, the first few men who offered bars and boxes of chocolate to women realized that this bittersweet treat can improve the mood of even the most iron-hearted women.Chocolate contains components that increase the production of serotonin in the brain. This substance is responsible for pleasure and relaxation. They say that dark chocolate is more potent in making women feel good. Men out there know that a woman who is happy is more willing and open for the possibility of being intimate in the bedroom.ArginineAt first mention of Arginine, you probably are thinking that this substance is quite difficult to have. In reality, however, Arginine is abundant in the food you have inside your refrigerator or pantry.

This amino acid is actually found in cheese, milk, meat, nuts, coconut milk and eggs. This substance is known to help enhance sensation of the clitoris, reduce dryness of the vagina, boost desire for intimacy and help in reaching climax or orgasm. What’s more, Arginine is also vital in slowing down the process of aging.Pine NutsWho would ever think that these small nuts could be used as a natural aphrodisiac for women? The birth rate in the Himalayan region, where pine nuts are quite popular, could be an indication that these lowly nuts can be very effective in making women more sexually active. Kidding aside, scientists believe that the protein content of pine nuts might be the one responsible for improving sex hormone levels in women.

This might explain why these nuts are considered as potent aphrodisiac.DamianaA lot of husbands and partners will agree that women who are in the verge of menopause suddenly don’t find having sex attractive. Good thing there is Damiana, a South American shrub, which is known for stimulating female sex organs and toning the membranes of the reproductive organs. Majority of women who took supplements that contain Damiana, such as Menersa, claimed that their sexual interest and pleasure were enhanced even during menopause.

For more information about how Menersa can help you, simply log on to http://www.menersa.com/.

Probably, the Big Mama Menopause Symptom, Hot Flashes come in Different Styles. We’ll look at a few types. Note the Differences in: How Intense?
How Often?
Night or Day?
Sweating or Not?

Sally, has Heat Flushing up from her Chest, up her throat,to her Cheeks, that become Bright Red. She feels like an uncomfortable Furnace for a minute or so and then it fades out. It happens a few times a day, especially in the afternoon. Sally sleeps Well at night. No sweating involved.

Jane is OK during the Day, but wakes up every few hours throughout the night…
Boiling Hot and Sweating Profusely…Throws the covers off…and may even experience palpitations, feeling Wired and Jittery. Thirsty, too.

Sandra isn’t bothered so much by Heat.

It’s the Sweat pouring out like a faucet that’s so uncomfortable and embarrassing. Day is worse. Sandra feels fatigued most of the time.

Amy wonders if the slight sudden warmth she feels once in a while is a Menopause Symptom.

All of these Women are having Hot Flashes. Right? But each one is having such a different experience. These differences are significant in Alternative Medicine Systems like TCM and Ayurveda. In fact, the style of the HotFlash or other menopause symptom, gives many clues as to What is causing it. and…even What to do about it!

There are a lot of things that can help.

One of the first is make sure you are DRINKING enough…fluids. That means water, juice, herb teas, etc.

That means at least Two liters a day. Many women tell me they don’t drink at all after their morning coffee.

But First, a brief “Western” Bio-Chem Interlude…
Hot Flashes are considered a Specific symptom of EstrogenDeficiency . Not enough Estrogen makes you Hot and Sweaty. Here’s How it happens…

If a Woman’s Estrogen levels are Too Low for her body’s needs, the Brain will pick up on it.

The Hypothalamus, in the Brain with it’s many Amazing Functions, is the Supply and Demand Processing-center of the Body.

It sends a messenger called GRH (Gonadatrophin Release Hormone)to the Pituitary.

This Master Hormone-Producing Gland (located in back of your eyes) then starts to produce FSH. (Follicle Stimulating Hormone). This is a Message to the Ovaries.

…”More Estrogen Please!”

If the Ovaries Respond and Produce more Estrogen, Fine. If not the Message gets Stronger,More GRH, More FSH,More FSH, More FSH. and still no Ovary response.

Usually, the FSH level needed for Ovulation is around 20. Menopause FSH levels can easily be 100 or more.
So, What causes the Hot Flashes?

OK, here it comes… The Hypothalamus, busy sending all these messages, is part of the LIMBIC System.

That part of the Brain is also in charge of Autonomic (that means it happens by itself)Temperature regulation, Sweating and many other Vascular Stress responses.

Like when you’re Stressed…

You can feel Flushed, a knot-in-your-stomache, Sweating, Heart Pounding,Wired, even Pupils Dilate…
Welcome to your Limbic System!

It’s the Hyperstimulation-no response situation that Stresses out the Hypothalamus. That triggers the Hot Flashes. Its a Red Alert from a Stressed-Out Brain!

…Like a Hungry Baby not getting Fed. Poor Baby Screams but no Food appears! So he Screams Louder!

The less Estrogen, the bigger the Hot Flash.

Thats why,Hormone Replacement of Estrogen, although dangerous in the long run, stops the Hot Flashes ,calming everything down.

Western European Herbal Medicine uses “Plant-Estrogens” or Phyto-Estrogens to Relieve Hot Flashes. Research has Proven this Successful.

Plant Estrogens, or Phyto-Estrogens are gaining popularity. These are Plants whose structure is similiar enough to Estrogen, to bind to Human Estrogen Receptor Sites.

Although these plants are 200-400 times weaker than actual hormones, there is often significant Menopause Symptom relief, reported. Common Estrogenic Plants of this sort are Black Cohosh , Red Clover,Suma, Sage, and Soy. These Phyto-Estrogens are often combined in formulas and sold commercially.
Soy is well known as a PhytoEstrogen, BUT TOO MUCH can Slow Down Thyroid Function!! DO NOT take large amounts of Concentrated Soy Alone as the Main Source of your PhytoEstogens.

Chinese Medicine: Looks Deeper! Chinese Medicine sees Menopause Very differently. The focus is more that the Symptoms indicate Imbalances that need to be addressed.

TCM sees Menopause Symptoms as Blood and Fluid Deficiency. Estrogen Production is High when there there is enough Spare Blood to have a Period. I personally, have seen Young Women Skip Periods after Heroically Donating Blood!
The TCM Explanation…
Hot Flashes are caused by an Imbalance in the Body of Fire and Water.Yep!
The Fire is Metabolic Heat. The Water is in the body’s Fluids. Although calling it “Kidney Yin Deficiency with Flaring – Liver Fire” may sound Wierd or Exotic, It really simply means DEHYDRATION.

Imagine a kettle over a fire with not enough water in it.As the water gets consumed by the heat. Heat(which rises)starts to flare up as the kettle starts getting scorched. Hot Flashes!

OK,let’s get more specific. Menopause Symptoms like Hot Flashes, Night Sweats, Sleep disturbances, even Emotional Stuff are Classic Symptoms of Deep Dehydration. Dehydration of the Blood itself.
This can happen also to someone after a Prolonged Fever, or Viral illness.

Fire and Water in the Blood
Western Medicine tells us that the Stuff we call “Blood” is a liquid that should be 2 parts Red Blood Cells to 3 parts Water. White Blood Cells take up only 1-2%. What we are talking about is reduced and even thckened blood volume. Not enough Water. Not enough Blood. (Dr.’s like to give Aspirin for this. It thins and Cools the Blood.

Stops Fever).

The Brain is Smart and Sensitive enough to recognize Serious Fluid Depletion. There’s Wisdom to Shutting down Reproductive Functions when there is not enough Blood.

The body is getting too Dry. Old Age Symptoms are Dryness Symptoms.Wrinkles Shrivelling.

Chinese and Ayurvedic Herbal Medicine would treat this by “Coolng and Nourishing the Blood”. You can translate that to: “Expand Blood Volume and Treat Underlying Inflamatory Process”. Herbs that do this are Carefully Combined in Chinese Medicine to TREAT the Dehyration in the Blood. and then the Hot Flashes GO AWAY.
Thats Why Dong Quai(Angelica Sinensis) has gained a reputation for Menopause symptom relief. It is not Estrogenic at all! This Herb, traditionally used by Chinese Women for Centuries, is a Nourishing BLOOD Tonic! They use it in Soups as FOOD! And they are primarily Menopause Symptom free!

But it’s not so Simple. DonQuai actually Warms and Stimulates the Blood. It contains Coumarins, that can encourage Blood Flow.

Therefore should Not be taken Alone by Women with Heavy Periods or taking prescription AntiCoagulants. And because it Warms the Blood can increase Hot Flashes, probably the most distressing menopause symptom! Combined with cooling herbs, though it can help alot.

Herbs that are Cooling and Highly Nourishing like Chinese Stellaria(YinChaiHu) or,Chinese Asparagus Root(TaiMenDong) really help! The related Herb ,Shatavari (Asparagus Racemosa) is Famous in India as Deeply Nourishing to Fluids and Blood.

Another Incredible Fluid and Blood Builder and my personal favorite for so many reasons is Spirulina, helpful for practically Any menopause symptom..

As soon as you even suspect that you are having Hot Flashes, or if they are already full blown, Herbs Really help! Which herbs?

First, lets look into how a Traditional Herbalist looks at Hot flashes.

Hot Flashes are viewed as a streaming-up of internal heat.

The source of this heat is understood to be chronic dryness that has become inflamatory. A Deep and chronic Dehydration state.

Like a Kettle on a flame with inadequate water. The heat starts to scorch and inflame. The herbal strategy will be to give herbs that are Cooling and Fluid-Nourishing. To turn off the Fire, cool the Kettle off, and fill it with water.

TCM calls these herbs “Yin” Tonics. Ayurveda would describe them as nourishing “Kapha”. These herbs Hydrate, coat, and soothe parched, inflamed muccous membraines. Common herbs are: Marshmallow(Althea), Asparagus ROOT,
Great Ayurvedic herbs are Shatavari(Asparagus Racemosa), and Amla(Emblica Myrobalani).

My favorite TCM herbs for this purpose are: Chinese Stellaria(YinChaiHu), Lycium Root(DiguPi), White Peony Rt.(BaiShao) and many others.

Ayurveda believes that sex is a natural biological drive and to deprive oneself out of it may throw him/her out of balance. We are all aware that food and water are the basic requirement to exist in this world, in the same manner everyone needs sex.

Sexual intercourse involves all the five senses sight, sound, smell, taste and touch and it is believed to be an elaborate process of mutual stimulation gifted to man kind by Nature. It views love making as a union of body, mind and soul which is a more fulfilling experience and it also acts as an emotional bond between husband and wife.

Female sexual problems prevent her from experiencing satisfaction from sexual activity.

Lack of desire, pain during intercourse, inability to reach sexual climax are some of the sexual problems they face. Many factors like medical, physical and psychological reasons; diet and lifestyle contribute to sexual problems.
Few Ayurvedic Remedies are:
1. Healing qualities of Shatavari are very effective on the female reproductive system related problems. It helps in minimizing the women’s complaints related to menstrual cycles and balancing the female hormonal system. It also helps in decreasing the inflammation of female sexual organs, in fighting tiredness and morning sickness, helps in problems related to infertility, leucorrhea, and in regulating ovulation etc, which occur during the menopause cycle. Those women, who face problems of hot flashes, they should try combination of Shatavari and Kama Duba. Shatavari helps in treating/balancing ‘Pitta dosha’. Useful for infertility, impotence and general sexual debility, decreased libido, threatened miscarriage, menopause, leucorrhea, and has the ability to balance pH in the cervical area.

2. Women who exercise regularly, take vitamins regularly and eat fewer saturated fats, more full-fat dairy products and less meat have fewer ovulation problems. Chocolate contains phenethylamine, a nutrient that enhances mood and is the chemical we produce in our brains when we fall in love. Artichokes, like wine, is also good for ladies Sex is an integral part of our daily habits (Dinacharya). Night and after two hours of dinner is the ideal time for intimacy, as it is kapha time.
Healthy food:

Avoid refined carbohydrates emphasize on lean meats, chicken, fish, and a lot of vegetables. Homemade salad dressing consisting of flaxseed oil and freshly squeezed lemon juice is also beneficial.
3. Vajikarna is one of eight disciplines, which deals with maintenance of vitality. Women seek rejuvenation chiefly to restore their youthful beauty and attraction. This can be achieved by the concept of Rasayana (rejuvenation).
4. Narasimha rasayan, Shatavari gula, Lakshmanarishta, Asokarishta etc are the classical ayurvedic preparation to treat female sexual problems. Please consult an ayurvedic doctor before starting medication.
